JONESBORO, Ark. – Three SIUE golfers finished among the top 25 and SIUE moved up one spot, finishing fifth at Arkansas State's Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate, completed Tuesday at RidgePoint Country Club.
The Cougars fired a final-round 292 and finished at 886. Host Arkansas State won the team title with an 857. Louisiana-Monroe finished at 873 in second place. Eastern Kentucky (879) and Jacksonville State (880) finished third and fourth, respectively.
Conor Dore paced the Cougars' efforts. He finished at 218 (+2) and tied for 13th. Kyle Slattery finished at 220 and tied for 16th. Albert Nilsson, playing as an individual, tied for 22nd at 223. Grant Gavin tied for 26th with a 225. Brooks Jungbluth turned in a 229 and tied for 38th. Will Starkey tied for 44th at 230. Parker McEachern, also playing as an individual, scored a 235 and finished alone in 57th.
Jacksonville State's Andoni Etchenique and Arkansas State's Zan Luka Stirn tied atop the leader board at 211 (-5) and were declared co-champions.
SIUE has just one tournament remaining before the OVC Championship. The Cougars will take part in the Missouri Tiger Invitational Monday and Tuesday.
