MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – Men's golf concluded its 2017-18 season Wednesday at the Ohio Valley Championship. The Cougars finished seventh.
"We just didn't have our best," SIUE Head Coach Derrick Brown said. "Ultimately it was a disappointing finish, but it doesn't take away from all the that we did this year."
The Cougars carded a 301 in Wednesday's final round and finished at 896. Jacksonville State won its second consecutive OVC title with an 875. EKU finished five strokes back at 880. Belmont finished third at 882.
Conor Dore was SIUE's highest finisher. He tied for 19th with a 223. Jordan Harre finished tied for 21st at 224. Kyle Slattery finished and Danny Gorman were among a group tied for 24th with a 225. Brady Dixon tied for 33rd with a 230.
Morehead State's Nick Wilkins earned individual medalist honors following a three-hole playoff with Belmont's Jack Uselton.
SIUE finished the year with a won-loss record of 91-53-4 and finished with their best team scoring average. Slattery led the Cougars as an individual with a 72.8 scoring average. Harre was second at 73.2 followed by Gorman and Dore at 73.5 and Dixon at 73.8.
"I am proud of all of our seniors," Brown said. "They have done a lot to get this program to where it is now. We wanted to be better for them this week, but we'll just have to work harder next year."
