Golf Adds Two to 2018 Class

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE golf Head Coach Derrick Brown has announced the addition of two golfers to the program. Brooks Jungbluth (St. Joseph, Missouri) and Parker McEachern (Keller, Texas) will join the Cougars in the fall.

Jungbluth comes to SIUE from Bishop LeBlond High School, where he has been honored as an All-State golfer and soccer player. He finished 27th at the Missouri Class 2 tournament as a freshman before earning back-to-back fourth-place finishes as an individual each of the past two seasons. His opening round 67 led the field after the first round in his junior year.

With Jungbluth as a sophomore, LeBlond won the Missouri state championship and followed with a third-place trophy last year.  Jungbluth currently is playing his senior season with the postseason beginning shortly.

Last summer, Jungbluth finished fourth at the Missouri Junior Am.

"Brooks will be a great fit in our program," Brown said. "He has played in tournaments locally and nationally to help prepare him for college golf. He has had a lot of success at Bishop LeBlond, as a two-sport All-State athlete. His athletic ability will make for a great transition to SIUE."

McEachern will transfer to SIUE after two seasons at Iowa Western Community College. Currently the Reivers are the fifth-ranked junior college program in the country.  McEachern finished the fall season as the 29th-ranked junior college player in the country.  He had three top-15 finishes in the fall, including at the NJCAA National Preview in Lubbock, Texas, with rounds of 74-73-70. McEachern opened his spring 2018 season with a third-place finish at the Southeast Spring Invitational.

McEachern is the second golfer to transfer from Iowa Western to SIUE. Albert Nilsson (Tyarred, Sweden) also will join the Cougars in the fall.

"Parker will bring some great experience to our team next year," Brown said. "He has played on a great team at Iowa Western that competes at a very high level so he knows what it takes to be successful. I look forward to Parker joining his current teammate, Albert Nilsson, here at SIUE."

SIUE recently completed the team portion of its regular season. Several individuals will participate in Western Illinois' Beu Massato Invitational April 16-17. The Ohio Valley Conference Championship begins April 23 in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
