BOULDER CITY, Nev. – SIUE golf moved up to a sixth-place finish at the Jackrabbit Invitational, hosted by South Dakota State, completed Saturday at Boulder Creek Golf Club.
The Cougars finished at 884 and were just six strokes outside of the top five. UNLV won the team competition with an 829. UCLA was second at 834. Nevada was third at 842 and UC Santa Barbara was fourth with an 857.
"I am proud of the way we fought back after a poor first round," SIUE Head Coach Derrick Brown said. "We came back to beat some good programs."
UCLA's Devon Bling finished at 15-under par to win medalist honors. UNLV's Shintaro Ban (-14) took second place.
"Danny and Kyle finishing tied for 17th in this field is pretty good," Brown added. "There were a lot of strong teams and competitors in this field."
Conor Dore, playing as an individual, carded a 69 in final round.
The Cougars will return to tournament play at Missouri State's Twin Oaks Intercollegiate March 19-20.
