EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – After finishing its regular season with four consecutive top-four finishes, SIUE golf embarks on the Ohio Valley Conference Championship which begins Monday at The Fighting Joe course at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

The Cougars come into the event ranked 4th in the OVC according to and are currently 13-5 against OVC teams this year.

This season, SIUE golfers have earned nine top-10 individual finishes by four different players. Conor Dore has three, Luke Long, Kyle Slattery and Danny Gorman each have two.

The Cougars will face off with 10 other OVC schools, Austin Peay, Belmont, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Morehead State, Murray State, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin to earn the OVC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Teams will play 18 holes per day Monday through Wednesday. 

The Fighting Joe course at The Shoals was the first Trail course to break 8,000 yards. Travel + Leisure Golf named Fighting Joe one of the top new courses in 2004.

For the Championship, Fighting Joe will be par 72 with yardage of 7,258. The OVC Men's Championship has been held at The Shoals four times previously including the last three seasons. It also was contested there in 2009.
