Troy Pierce joined the SIUE men's basketball staff as an assistant coach in May 2019.

Pierce comes to SIUE after spending the last three seasons at Bradley as the Braves’ Coordinator of Player Development and Video Operations. With Pierce on staff, the Braves saw their win total increase from 13 in 2016-17 to back-to-back seasons of 20 wins. Bradley captured the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title in 2019. The MVC championship was the first for Bradley in 31 years. The NCAA tournament appearance was the first since 2006.

At Bradley, Pierce was responsible for player development, video operations and academics where he helped in the progress of two All-Missouri Valley Conference players. Five Bradley student-athletes were named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team.

Prior to his time at Bradley, Pierce was an assistant at Emporia State, helping the Hornets to two Mid-America Athletic Association Tournament appearances. Pierce handled scouting, video, academics and player development at Emporia State.

Pierce began his coaching career at Illinois-Springfield during the 2013-14 season when the Prairie Stars earned their first Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament win.

The native of Emporia, Kansas, began his playing career at Butler Community College, where he helped lead the Grizzlies to 54 wins in two seasons as well as Conference and Region VI championships and a National Tournament appearance. He earned accolades as a first team all-region selection. Pierce continued his playing career at Charleston Southern and Emporia State.

He earned his bachelor’s in psychology and his master’s in health and physical education, both from Emporia State.

Pierce and his wife, Raney, are expecting their first daughter later in May.
