SIUE Head Coach Jon Harris is in his fourth season at the helm of the Cougars. The native of Edwardsville, Illinois, is 30-85 overall.
Daniel Kinchen's three-pointer with less than a second to play Thursday vaulted SIUE to an 85-84 win at Tennessee State. With the Cougars trailing 84-82 and seven seconds left, Tyresse Williford brought the ball up the floor, with Kinchen trailing. Williford drove into the free throw line, before passing back to Kinchen for the game-winner. The win was the first-ever for SIUE at Tennessee State. The Tigers nearly pulled off a major comeback. SIUE led by as many as 17 points in the first half and had a 47-33 lead at halftime.
Brandon Jackson led SIUE with 16 points and 10 rebounds against EIU. It was the third double-double of his career. All three have come this year.
SIUE has played five overtime games this year, which is a school record. The Cougars have played eight overtime periods, which is the most in the NCAA.
The 16-point comeback vs. Morehead State was SIUE's largest of the year and the third time this season it has overcome a double-digit deficit. It also was SIUE's third win this year after trailing at halftime.
The Cougars scored 51 points in the second half against Morehead State. It was the third time this season SIUE has scored at least 50 points in a half, not including overtime periods.
The win at SEMO featured the most overtime periods (three) for SIUE in the Division I era. It was the third game of at least three overtime periods in school history and the first since the 1984-85 season.
In just his second season, McFarland has 623 career points and is now no. 49 all-time in scoring at SIUE.
