SIUE Head Coach Jon Harris is in his fourth season at the helm of the Cougars. The native of Edwardsville, Illinois, is 28-81 overall.
SIUE overcame a 16-point deficit Thursday night at the Vadalabene Center. The Cougars erupted for an explosive 51-point second half to overtake Morehead State 83-76 in Ohio Valley Conference play. Tyresse Williford's 23 points, including 16 in the second half, spurred the Cougars. Williford served as a catalyst in the big second half when SIUE made 17 of 26 shots. He also sank four free throws in the final 18.9 seconds to put the finishing touches on the win.
Thursday's 16-point comeback was SIUE's largest of the year and the third time this season it has overcome a double-digit deficit. It also is SIUE's third win this year after trailing at halftime.
The Cougars scored 51 points in the second half Thursday. It is the third time this season SIUE has scored at least 50 points in one half, not including overtime periods.
Jan. 24 at Southeast Missouri was the fourth overtime game of the year for the Cougars. It is the most overtime games in a season in school history.
The win at SEMO featured the most overtime periods for SIUE in the Division I era. It is the third game of at least three overtime periods in school history and the first since the 1984-85 season.
CRASHING THE BOARDS
The Cougars hauled in 58 rebounds in the win at Southeast Missouri. It is SIUE's most rebounds in a game in the Division I era.
Brandon Jackson grabbed a career-best 15 rebounds on the road at SEMO. It is the second-most rebounds in a game for a player in SIUE's Division I era.
