FOURTH SEASON
SIUE Head Coach Jon Harris is in his fourth season at the helm of the Cougars. The native of Edwardsville, Illinois, is 26-75 overall. 
 
PREVIOUSLY
Some sizzling shooting supplied plenty of punch as SIUE outscored Southeast Missouri, 94-88, in the Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball opener for both teams Thursday at the Vadalabene Center. Cameron Williams and David McFarland led the way with 27 and 22 points, respectively.
 
CONFERENCE CALL
SIUE opened its eighth Ohio Valley Conference season Thursday. The Cougars improved to 4-4 in OVC openers and are now 36-79 in all-time in the OVC. 
 
ON POINT
The Cougars' 94 points in Thursday's win represented a season high in scoring and were the most points ever scored by SIUE in an OVC game. 
 
STREAKING
SIUE has won three consecutive games for the first time this season and the second season in a row. The Cougars' last four-game win streak came in 2014-15, when they won five straight from Dec. 20-Jan. 3.
 
GRAND THEFT
SIUE swiped a season-high 13 steals at Drake. It was the most steals in a game for the Cougars since the 2016 season opener at Hawaii.
 
FREEBIES
The Cougars knocked down 36 of 42 free throws against Harris-Stowe. That is the second-most makes and fourth-most attempts in a game during the Division I era.
 
TURNING OVER A NEW LEAF
SIUE is fifth in the OVC in turnover margin. The Cougars are +2.8 in turnover margin. Last year SIUE was -1.3 in turnover margin. The Cougars are fifth in the OVC and are 108th nationally for fewest turnovers at 166. They are fifth in the league at 13.8 turnovers per game.
