This is the second of three consecutive road games for SIUE, which is in the midst of its busiest week: four games in seven days.
Edwardsville native Jon Harris is in first season at the helm of the Cougars and his first season as a head coach. Harris has spent 14 seasons as an assistant coach.
Harris turned 35 in August and is the second-youngest first-year head coach in NCAA Division I men's basketball. Only Chattanooga's Matt McCall (34 in December) is younger. Only 10 head coaches in all of Division I are younger than Harris.
LAST TIME OUT
Milwaukee used a 14-3 run midway through the second half to pull away for a 64-51 win over SIUE men's basketball Thursday at UWM Panther Arena. The Cougars got out to a fast start, scoring the first four points of the game on jumpers by Yemi Makanjuola and Jalen Henry. The teams traded leads five times during the first 20 minutes and the score was tied five times in the half.
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
UWM opened the year with three straight wins. It is coming off an 84-78 win over Central Michigan Sunday at Gulf Coast Showcase. Matt Tiby is the scoring and rebounding leader at 15.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Northwestern owns a 4-0 lead in the series. The teams have met once since SIUE transitioned to Division I, in 2011.
