This is the second of two consecutive games against Great West Conference teams. SIUE lost at Texas-Pan American last Saturday.
LAST TIME OUT
SIUE dropped a 77-66 decision at Texas-Pan American last Saturday. The Cougars shot just 34.6 percent in the first half and committed 17 turnovers in the game. Kris Davis led SIUE with 24 points.
SCOUTING THE CHICAGO STATE COUGARS
Chicago State is a member of the Great West Conference. The Cougars have started the year 2-6 and dropped five straight before defeating Trinity Christian Thursday night. Both of their wins have come against non-Division I opponents. The other was an 81-65 win over Division III Concordia. Senior Jeremy Robinson leads the Cougars with 12.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
This is the fifth meeting all-time bewtween the two schools. SIUE scored an 81-70 victory in Chicago in last season's finale. Mark Yelovich scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the game while Davis added 11 points. Prior to last year it had been nearly 20 years since the two schools had met.
VERSUS THE GREAT WEST CONFERENCE
The Cougars are now 4-9 against Great WestConference opponents under Head Coach Lennox Forrester. Before last season, SIUE had played only South Dakota and North Dakota. Neither school is a GWC member any longer. The league, which began play as a football-only league in 2004, added basketball for the 2008-09 season.
