Four players scored in double figures as Southern Illinois University Edwardsville sept past Truman State 79-67 in a non-conference men's basketball game Thursday night at the Vadalabene Center.
Marty Perry led all scorers with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting in helping SIUE improve to 5-6. Truman State fell to 2-6.
Rob Baumgardner recorded 14 points for the Cougars, hitting four three-pointers. Ron Heflin and Garrett Thomas added 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Nathan Owen led four Truman State players in double figures with 14 points.
SIUE jumped out to a commanding 42-31 lead at halftime thanks mostly to 18-of-29 shooting (62 percent). Truman State won the battle of three-point shooting with nine. The Bulldogs struggled overall from the field and hit just 1 of 6 free throws in the second half.
The Cougars are in the midst of a four-game homestand. SIUE next faces Wayne State (Mich.) on Dec. 29. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
