LOUISVILLE, KY. - Jared McCurry scored 26 in helping Bellarmine to outrun Southern Illinois University Edwardsville 94-81 in men's college basketball action Saturday night.
McCurry led four Bellarmine (9-12, 6-9 GLVC) players in doubles figures. Brad Ayer had 17 while Oloyede Olumide and Nathan Sexton added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Marty Perry came off the bench for 24 points in 24 minutes played. He was 8 of 17 from the field and 4 of 5 from three-point range.
Ron Heflin continued to score well for the Cougars. His 9-for-12 performance from the field yielded 22 points as he also hit four three-pointers.
Bellarmine led by three at 38-35 by halftime but turned back SIUE in the second half by hitting 20 of 27 free throws after connecting on just 2 of 5 in the first half. SIUE shot the ball well in both halves, finishing 51.7 percent from the field. The Knights, however, used 11 steals and committed just seven turnovers in the game.
