SIUE Cougars (9-20, 5-10 OVC) vs.
Missouri Tigers (22-11-1, 5-6-1 SEC)
Simmons Baseball Complex / Roy E. Lee Field
THE COUGARS: SIUE has dropped four straight and seven of its last eight games.
HOMER HAPPY: The Cougars hammered nine home runs over the weekend at Morehead State. In game one of Saturday's doubleheader, SIUE connected on five home runs. It was the fourth time in the Division I era the Cougars have hit five home runs in a game.
HOME COOKING: The Cougars have been better at home this year. SIUE is 6-4 in home games, already eclipsing last year's home win total of four. The Cougars' batting average is .276 at home compared to .253 on the road. Their earned run average of 5.34 at home is more
than two runs better than on the road.
CONFERENCE CALL: SIUE is playing its eighth Ohio Valley Conference season in 2019. Through five series this year, the Cougars are 86-136 all-time in league play. SIUE's best finish was third in 2015 when it was 19-11.
TRIPLE THREAT: The Cougar infield trio of Brady Bunten, Jordan Ross and Justin Perkins turned a rare triple play March 27 at Evansville. It was SIUE's first of the Division I era. It is one of two turned this year in the OVC and one of only eight in Division I baseball.
SERIES STUFF: Missouri leads the all-time series 11-3. Since SIUE made the move to Division I, the Cougars are 1-5 versus the Tigers. The win came in 2011 in Columbia, Missouri.
S-E-C: The Cougars have met Mizzou three times since the Tigers joined the Southeastern Conference. The only other SEC opponent SIUE has played was Kentucky, earlier this season. No SEC team has previously come to Edwardsville.
