Serwa Tabbed for Weekly Award

Serwa Tabbed for Weekly Award

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – SIUE junior right-hander Kenny Serwa has been named the Ohio Valley Conference baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Serwa was a unanimous choice for the weekly award after a dominating start Saturday at Samford.

The native of Chicago, Illinois, used 106 pitches to record SIUE's first complete game shutout in four seasons. Serwa allowed just a single hit, he did not walk a batter and he struck out four. He recorded six perfect innings and retired the last 14 hitters he faced. Serwa's complete game was the first of the season for the Cougars and SIUE's first complete game shutout since May 2014 when Ryan Daniels blanked Austin Peay.

The award is the first of Serwa's career and the first weekly award of the season for SIUE.

The Cougars return to OVC play with a weekend home series against Austin Peay beginning Friday.
