EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Justin Fagan (Vero Beach, Fla.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to join SIUE baseball.
Fagan is a right-handed hitting catcher from Vero Beach High School. He hit .407 as a senior, with a .559 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .514.
"Justin is a very athletic catcher," SIUE Assistant Coach Danny Jackson said. "He runs well, he blocks well, and he has a good swing."
Recognized as All-Area Regional All-Star this season, Fagan helped lead Vero Beach to the Conference and District Championships this season. Fagan also was named the 2011 team Most Valuable Player of the Vero Beach American Legion Post 39 senior team. That team won District Championships in 2012 and 2013. The 2012 team also was Sectional Champions and a Final 8 team in the state of Florida.
"Justin comes from a hard-working family," Jackson added. "We couldn't ask for a better kid."
Off the field, Fagan maintained a 4.0 grade point average all four years of high school. He was recognized as a Top Scholar-Athlete and is a member of the National Honor Society.
"He is going to do great on the field, but he also is a great student," Jackson added.
