Greatting was 10-19 (.526) for the week in which the Cougars were 3-2. SIUE enjoyed an extra-inning home win over Indiana State last Tuesday and won two of three games in a nonconference weekend series at Conference USA leader Southern Miss.
The senior led the Cougars in average, hits, total bases (18), slugging (.947), and on-base percentage (.591) this weekend. He was 4 for 6 with four RBIs in the Cougars' come-from-behind 12-inning win over the Sycamores Tuesday. He tied the game 6-6 with a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the ninth that sent the game to extra innings. He tied the game again (8-8) in the bottom of the 11th with an RBI single to send the game to the 12th inning.
Over the weekend, he got the Cougars started with a first inning home run in each of the first two games at Southern Miss. He was 3 for 5 with the homer and 3 RBIs in Friday night's win. He was 2 for 3 with the homer and three RBIs in Saturday's win. Greatting leads the team with a .337 batting average and 33 RBIs.
Greatting shared the award with Austin Peay's Craig Massoni. Casey Delgado, also of Austin Peay was chosen as the Pitcher of the Week. It is the first Player of the Week award for Greatting in his career.
The Cougars conclude their 2013 season with a Wednesday game at home against Evansville and a weekend series at Austin Peay.
