SIUE Athletics

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – For the last 11 straight years spanning 22 consecutive semesters, SIUE student-athletes have finished with a departmental grade point average of better than 3.0.

SIUE student-athletes completed the 2017 spring semester with a 3.281 GPA, marking the second-highest semester GPA in school history.

"As always I am proud of our student-athletes, staff, academic support and coaches for continuing this tradition of excellence," said SIUE Director of Athletics Dr. Brad Hewitt.

Hewitt said team and individual discipline explains the department's continued strong showing in the classroom.

"It is also with great appreciation that I thank the SIUE faculty and all other support service areas for the quality instruction and care given to all students and to our student-athletes. This is a reflection of the entire university's efforts," he added.

Twelve SIUE programs finished with team GPAs of better than 3.0. SIUE men's cross country finished with the highest GPA at 3.804 followed by women's cross country at 3.697.
