Ward joined SIUE Athletics in August 2017 as a graduate assistant for the Sports Information Department.
His previous experience includes internships with the Tulsa Shock (now the Dallas Wings) of the WNBA and The Oklahoma City All Sports Association. With the Shock, he was the business operations intern and worked directly under President Steve Swetoha. While with the All Sports Association, he was the intern serving directly under the Executive Director Tim Brassfield. He assisted directly with the marketing, ticket sales, merchandising and game day operations with both internships.
For the past six years, Ward has worked part-time at 97.1 FM The Sports Animal/ESPN a sports-talk radio network in Tulsa, Oklahoma. While with The Sports Animal, he produced live shows and sporting events, has covered many events as a working member of the press including; the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball tournament and Final Four, Orange Bowl, Cotton Bowl and NBA Western Conference Finals.
A graduate of Oklahoma Christian University, he received a bachelor's degree in sports wellness and recreational management. At Oklahoma Christian, he served as an undergraduate assistant sports information director and assistant to the athletic director. His responsibilities included live tweeting from home sporting events, assisting in game day operations and administrative duties.
Before transferring to Oklahoma Christian, Ward attended and played football for Lindenwood-Belleville University in Belleville, Illinois. While at Lindenwood, he worked in the athletic department assisting with sports information duties.
Ward was an Academic All Conference, and a two-time state champion football player at Union High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He will be pursuing a master’s in exercise and sports psychology from SIUE.
