Brown Finishes Runner-Up at Border Wars

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Kayla Brown finished as the runner-up at Border Wars, hosted by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Brown finished the 5,000-meter cross country in 17 minutes, 48.06 seconds. The SIUE senior was edged out by Bradley freshman Nicole Benson, who won the race in 17:30.91.

SIUE's Aftan Noon placed fifth in the event at SIUE's Cross Country course, where conditions were soft after a couple days of rain in Edwardsville. She finished in 18:36.19.

Bradley won the team title with a score of 26. The Braves were followed by Central Missouri with 60, SIUE with 70 and Kaskaskia College with 114.

The rest of the SIUE contingent included Jamie Nagel (20:34.89), Heather Hackel (20:41.93), Rachel Roustio (20:48.39) and Elisha Crawley (22.23.26).

SIUE's season comes to an end next Friday at the Bradley Classic in Peoria.
