Cross Country Places Well at Bradley Invitational

PEORIA, Ill. – The SIUE cross country teams fared well at the Bradley Invitational Friday with seven top-10 finishes.

"We went out today with intentions of running as a pack and utilizing eachother throughout the race," Assistant Coach Kayla Brown said. "Both groups executed the race plans nicely."

In the men's 8k, Landon Skelly finished fourth (26:39.3). Austin Woodard ran a time of 27:13.8, which was good for eighth place. Tyler Owens finished tenth, Liam O'Connell placed 12th and Matthew O'Connorfinished 13th.

"Landon (Skelly) ran a smart race and worked hard in the middle to lead the men today," Brown added.

On the women's side, the Cougars had a very impressive outing in the 5k. Jess Clarke finished second (19:22.7), Allie Sweatt placed third (19:30.4) and Haley Miller finished fourth (19:41.2). Aly Goff placed tenth, Keri Burmester 12th and Kassidy Dexheimer 16th.

"Jess Clarke was right off her season best today," Brown said. "Allie Sweatt and Haley Miller followed to pack us in as a group."

The Cougars are back in action next Friday at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Illinois.
