SIUE Volleyball Adds Trevino, Norris

EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. – SIUE volleyball Head Coach Leah Johnson has added a pair of transfers to the roster for next season. Hilary Trevino (Hermann, Mo.) and Haley Norris (St. Charles, Ill.) will join the Cougars.

Trevino, a 5-foot, 10-inch outside hitter, comes to SIUE from Mineral Area College where she led her team with 365 kills and a .290 hitting percentage. She recorded 371 digs, 23 service aces, and 61 blocks. She helped her team to a 10th place finish at the national tournament and an overall record of 35-7.

"Hillary is a natural athlete. She has the ability to play six rotations thanks to her strong first contact ability as well as her terminal arm swing," said Johnson. "She has enjoyed a very successful career, and we are excited for her to continue her career in a Cougar uniform."

Trevino was a two-time All-State selection at Hermann High School. She led her team to the Class 2 state tournament title during the 2008-2009 season.

Norris, 5-4 defensive specialist, is transferring to SIUE from Northern Illinois. Norris played in eight sets last season for the Huskies during her freshman season.

A special mention All-State selection by the Champaign News-Gazette and the Chicago Tribune as a senior, Norris recorded a single-season record for 436 digs at Rosary High School. She also holds the school record for career digs with 865.

"Haley is a kind and thoughtful person, a student-athlete of character. Her character is complimented by her skill sets; she has tremendous defensive instincts and a natural passing touch.  She will be a great competitive addition to our program," Johnson said.

A member of the Kane Country Juniors, Norris helped her club team to first place at the 2011 Volleyball Festival as well as second place in 2009.
