The Cougars and the Badgers competed in a dual meet at Camp Randall Sports Complex. Wisconsin defeated the SIUE men 84-50 and the SIUE women 106-36.
"The SIUE student-athletes had a great outing this weekend," said SIUE Head Coach Scott Block. "Coming off of winter break and only having four days to prepare for this weekend's meet, the team managed to put out 19 personal bests and win a few events. It was outstanding."
Many of the personal bests were among a select number of events.
Alec Dutton (53-9.75) and Austin Lynch (42-1.5) earned PRs in the weight throw. Lynch added a PR in the shot put (42-11.75).
Three SIUE runners topped their previous best in the mile. Erin Kennedy did so on the women's side (5:16.88) while Ben Scamihorn (4:19.73) and Landon Skelly (4:35.85) accomplished it on the men's side.
In the 3,000, the Cougars have five runners with PRs. Keith Meyer moved up to No. 2 on the all-time list with his winning time of 8:25.93. He was less than a second off the school record set by Rudy Rocha (8:25.31) set in 1990. Anthony Holshouser also had a personal best in the event at 8:58.92.
SIUE added PRs by Dalton Oakes in the 300 (38.34), Julian Harvey in the 60 (7.00), Aly Goff in the 800 (2:26.62) and Kevin Campbell in the 800 (1:59.90).
SIUE nest heads to the Missouri Invite next Friday in Columbia, Missouri.
