SIUE Falls Short to UT Martin

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The SIUE women's tennis team fell to UT Martin 4-3 at the Edwardsville YMCA Friday.

The Cougars drop to 0-19 on the season and 0-8 in Ohio Valley Conference play. UT Martin (4-12, 4-4 OVC) has now won three straight matches.

SIUE scored all three of their points in singles play. In the No. 1 singles match, Lara Tupper defeated As Jumamukhambetova (UTM) 6-4, 4-6, 10-5. The No. 2 singles match also went three sets, where Raillane Kamdem defeated Jemima Potter (UTM) 4-6, 6-4, 10-7. Ann-Christine Link won her No. 3 singles match against Andrea Plantada (UTM) in two close sets 7-6, 7-6.

In No. 1 doubles, the SIUE duo of Link and Kamdem were up 4-1 against the UT Martin duo Jumamukhambetova and Potter before play was halted because of the Cougars dropping the No. 2 and 3 matches.

SIUE will be back in action Saturday as they play host to Southeast Missouri to wrap up the season. Match time is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the Edwardsville YMCA.
