TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The SIUE women's tennis team fell to Eastern Illinois 6-1 at the Wabash Valley Tennis Center Friday.
The Cougars' (0-12, 0-2) lone point on the day came from Raillane Kamdem. She won the No. 2 singles match against Grace Summers (EIU) 6-1, 7-6.
"Raillane earned a huge win at No. 2 today," SIUE Head Coach Nick Mueller said. "She defeated a first team All-Ohio Valley Conference player."
In the No. 1 singles match, SIUE's Lara Tupper fell to Stella Cliffe 6-3, 6-0.
In doubles play, the Panthers (8-9, 2-0) defeated SIUE in both the No. 1 and No. 2 matches. In the No. 1 match, the EIU duo of Summers and Cliffe defeated Ann-Christine Link and Kamdem 6-3.
"We changed up doubles pairings today, and I believe it gave us a jolt as a group," added Mueller. "The doubles execution was much better than the last couple of weeks."
SIUE will be back in action Saturday when it travels to face OVC foe Eastern Kentucky.
