Cougars Travel to Nicholls State, New Orleans

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The SIUE women's tennis team heads to Louisiana for a two-match road swing against Nicholls State Wednesday and New Orleans Thursday.

"We are competing against two solid opponents this week," SIUE Head Coach Nick Mueller said. "These matches will definitely help us become smarter and better players."

The Cougars (0-9) will face Nicholls State (6-3) at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Colonel Tennis Complex in Thibodaux, Louisiana. The Colonels are 4-1 at home and are led by Stephanie Barnett, who holds a 10-6 combined No. 1 singles and doubles record.

SIUE will head to New Orleans Thursday to face the Privateers (4-4) at the University Tennis Center at 2 p.m. New Orleans' Trang Dao holds an 8-5 combined No. 1 singles and doubles record. New Orleans has won two of their last three matches.

"The team is excited for the new environment and opponents we don't normally see," Mueller added.

SIUE's Raillane Kamdem earned two wins last week against Western Illinois. She defeated Laura Ballasteros 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 in singles. In doubles play, Kamdem and Katherine Lahue won their match 7-5.
