EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The SIUE women's tennis team fell to Drake 7-0 Saturday at the SIUE Tennis Courts.

The Cougars (0-9) played multiple close matches with the Bulldogs (9-2), but couldn't swing one their way.

"Drake is a strong team, and they played very well today," Head Coach Nick Mueller said.

In No. 2 doubles, the Drake duo of Liza Petushkova and Kenya Williams defeated Raillane Kamdem and Katherine Lahue 6-1. The Cougars No. 1 doubles (Lara Tupper and Ann-Christine Link) did not finish due to SIUE dropping the No. 2 and No. 3 matches.

No. 1 singles saw Drake's Summer Brills defeat Tupper 6-2, 7-5. In the second singles match, Tess Herder edged Link in two close sets 7-6, 7-5. Kamdem dropped her singles match against Petushkova 6-2, 6-1. In the No. 4 singles match, Lahue fell to Williams 6-4, 6-0.

"We had some chances today, but couldn't capitalize on them," Mueller added. "We are looking forward to our trip to New Orleans next week."

The Cougars start a two match road swing through Louisiana where they will face Nicholls State Wednesday and New Orleans Thursday.
