Cougar Tennis Set to Open Fall Season at Home

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's tennis opens their fall season this Friday and Saturday at home for the SIUE Fall Invitational.

The tournaments will consist of three rounds of doubles play and three rounds of singles. The other teams competing will be Western Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Bradley and Saint Louis.

"We are very excited to be hosting our first tournament," Head Coach Nick Mueller said. "We are lucky enough to host two tournaments this fall with the SIUE Indoor Invite in October."

SIUE is the two-time Ohio Valley Conference regular season and tournament champions and look to build on their success this year.

Juniors Ann-Christine Link (Luowigshafen, Germany) and Morgan Steffes (Overland Park, Kansas) bring valuable experience for the Cougars. Callaghan Adams (Edwardsville, Illinois) and Lara Tupper (Queensland, Australia) both assisted the Cougars in winning the OVC regular season and tournament championships last spring and are set to have the same success this year. Lone freshmen Raillane Kamdem (Grapevine, Texas) is looking to have a great season for SIUE.

"I am looking for everyone to step up this year, and I look forward to the start of our season," Coach Mueller added.

Doubles play will begin at 10 am on Friday. Doubles finals will be Saturday morning at 8 am, with singles starting after the doubles finals.
