SIUE Women's Tennis Triumphs Against Butler

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – SIUE women's tennis won four of six singles matches against Butler to finish up with an overall victory of 5-2. The Cougars extended their winning streak to four matches to start the spring season.

The doubles point was grabbed by the Cougars with the No. 1 pair of Mia Frogner and Tiffany Hollebeck winning their match 6-4 over Bailey Padgett and Kailey Eaton. Ann-Christine Link and Lara Tupper earned the victory at No. 3 doubles 6-2 over Caroline McAuley and Carla O'Byrne.

Four straight-set singles wins then propelled the Cougars over the Bulldogs, now 2-7 overall. Lexi Aranda won 6-1, 6-4 in the No.1 spot, Mia Frogner, playing at No. 2, won her match 6-1, 6-2. At 3, Morgan Steffes had the same victorious score of 6-1, 6-2. Tiffany Hollebeck at No. 4 got a win of 6-3, 6-3.

Head Coach Nick Mueller commented on the Cougars performance, "We played well today. Good start in singles overall. We look forward to IUPUI tomorrow."

The Cougars continue play Sunday at 9 a.m. CST against IUPUI at the West Indy Racquet Club in Indianapolis.
