SIUE Women’s Tennis Releases 2014-2015 Schedule

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - First-year women's tennis Head Coach Amanda Pratzel announced the 2014-2015 schedule with the fall season quickly approaching.

"I am looking to build off the previous success and keep improving as we move forward," said Pratzel.

SIUE begins the fall season Friday, Sept. 5 at the Saint Louis University Invitational.

The Cougars open up their home season Sept. 12-14 at the SIUE Fall Invitational. SIUE will welcome Western Illinois, Evansville, Eastern Illinois, and Saint Louis University to compete in the tournament. The team also is scheduled to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional in Stillwater, Oklahoma Oct. 16-19. To close out the fall season, the team travels to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in the Drake Fall Invitational Oct. 24-26.

Despite adding no newcomers to the roster, the eight returners expect to compete in the conference. Returners include seniors Kali Donner (Weston, Fla.), Haley Ilcewicz (Lockport, Ill.), and Lindsey Raymond (Naples, Fla.); juniors Sierra Halverson (Upsala, Minn.), Monique Krutak (Brisbane, Queensland, Australia), and McKenzie Thomas (Evansville, Ind.); and sophomores Lexi Aranda (Longwood, Fla.) and Mia Frogner (Oslo, Norway). Aranda was a 2013-2014 second-team All-Conference Selection.

"They have been around each other for at least a year so they know each other really well both on and off the court," said Pratzel. "They all know what to expect in conference play this year and they are all eager to win and improve from previous years."

SIUE has nine home matches in the spring season starting with Saint Louis University (Jan. 25) and Chicago State (Jan. 31).

Before OVC play begins, the team will travel to California to play Villanova (Mar. 7) and California State – Fullerton (Mar. 8).

"Most of them have never been to that part of the United States before.  We are looking forward to getting some good matches and getting adjusted to the outdoor season before starting conference play," Pratzel said.

The OVC schedule begins on the road at Belmont (Mar. 13) and Tennessee State (Mar. 14), and also features away contests at Southeast Missouri (Mar. 27), UT Martin (Mar. 28), and Jacksonville State (Apr. 3).

The Cougars OVC home schedule includes Murray State (Mar. 20), Austin Peay (Mar. 21), Eastern Illinois (Mar. 25), Eastern Kentucky (Apr. 10), and Morehead State (Apr. 11).

The OVC tournament is scheduled for Apr. 17-19.
