Aranda Named All-OVC for SIUE Women’s Tennis

PADUCAH, Ky. – SIUE's Lexi Aranda, of Longwood, Fla., was named second team All-Ohio Valley Conference at the league banquet Tuesday evening.


The Cougar freshman finished the women's tennis regular season with a 19-8 record and a 12-6 mark in dual matches. She collected a 7-3 OVC record splitting time between No. 1 and No. 2 singles.


Aranda and teammate Haley Ilcewicz recorded a 9-3 dual record, including a 5-3 mark in OVC play. The duo was a perfect 5-0 in No. 3 doubles matches.


Briar Preston, of Morehead State, was named the OVC Player of the Year and highlighted the seven-player first team. Hitomi Naito, of UT Martin, was tabbed the OVC Freshman of the Year. Murray State's Olga Elkin and Morehead State's Kevin Fulton were named the co-OVC Coaches of the Year.


The No. 4-seeded SIUE women's tennis team begins its first-ever OVC Championship Thursday with a quarterfinal match against fifth-seeded UT Martin at 2 p.m.
