EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The SIUE women's tennis team meet Saint Louis in a dual match Friday at the St. Clair Tennis Club in O'Fallon, Ill. The start time for the event is 4 p.m.
This is the second time the 4-2 SIUE women's team has faced the Saint Louis Billikens, 3-3. The two teams played singles and doubles matches in an open format at the Billiken Fall Class last September.
"I think you can take the results from the fall and throw them out the window," said SIUE Head Coach Jason Coomer. "We've improved greatly since the fall, and we can only suspect that Saint Louis has as well."
The SIUE women won their last event 4-3 over Evansville and will be looking for a third straight victory. SIUE's freshman combination of Mia Frogner and Lexi Aranda has combined for a 25-4 singles record and both have winning streaks heading into the weekend.
"Mia and Lexi have made the transition to Division I tennis look easy," Coomer said. "But we can't get too comfortable with our past success."
Coomer has had a flexible lineup so far this season. Not one player in the lineup has played all of their matches in the same single slot.
"I would expect that as our players continue to compete for positions in this lineup, there will be fluctuation in our week-to-week lineup," Coomer said.
