EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – SIUE women's tennis won four singles flights and a doubles flight to close out the SIUE Fall Invitational.

Lexi Aranda, Mia Frogner, Sierra Halverson, and McKenzie Thomas all won their singles flights for the Cougars at the SIUE Tennis Courts. SIUE completed the weekend with a 15-4 record in singles matches.

"I thought we had a strong weekend," said SIUE Head Coach Jason Coomer. There's obviously always room for improvement. If you told me on Friday before we started that's where we would be, I would have taken it."

Aranda, a freshman, bested Evansville's Marketa Trousilova Saturday 6-1, 6-3. Both players had entered the day undefeated at No. 2 singles.

Frogner, also a freshman, handed Evansville's Kelsey Costales a 6-0, 6-1 defeat in the final No. 4 singles match of the tournament for both players.

"Lexi and Mia have had a great first couple of weeks of their collegiate career. We do expect them to contribute to this lineup."

Halverson and Thomas wrapped up the No. 6 and No. 7 singles flights with a pair of wins on Friday. Halverson gave up just one game in her two matches.

"I played loose and confident. It seemed like the balls were going where I wanted them. Overall, everyone did fantastic," said Halverson.

Aranda and Halverson teamed up to win the No. 2 doubles. The duo won all three of its doubles matches and downed Evansville's Costales and Mina Milovic 8-3 in Saturday's final match.

The Cougars continue their practice schedule next week and will look forward to the ITA Central Regional Championships to be held in Norman, Okla., Oct. 17-20.
