SIUE Women’s Tennis Inks Norwegian Champion

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The SIUE women's tennis team announced the addition of Oslo, Norway, native Mia Frogner who will join the Cougars in the fall.

 

"Mia will be a great addition for our program," said SIUE Head Coach Jason Coomer. "She has competed on the international level against some of the best in Norway. Mia's athleticism, in addition to her natural ability on the court, will serve her well during her transition to the college level."

 

Frogner was the No. 2-ranked player in the under 18 age division in Norway and has now turned her attention to raising her ranking in the senior (open) rankings. She has been ranked as high as No. 9 in Norway in the senior (open) rankings.

 

A semifinalist for every year at the indoor and outdoor Norwegian Championships since age 11, she earned first place honors in Masters under 18 tournament. She has 15 Norwegian Cup victories and has been a multiple champion at the Norwegian Championship in doubles and mixed doubles.

 

Her best finish was second at the Norwegian Championship under 18 age division.

 

"Mia has demonstrated that she can play at an extremely competitive level which was illustrated by her success at the Norwegian Championships," Coomer said.
