Season Comes to an End for Women’s Tennis

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The SIUE women's tennis team played its final match of the 2012-13 season Sunday as it hosted Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Kentucky at the SIUE Tennis Courts.

The Colonels, who sit atop the OVC standings with a perfect 10-0 record in conference, won the match 7-0.

EKU won all but one singles match in straight sets.  At No. 4 singles, Haley Ilcewicz won the second set but eventually lost the third against Milena Poffo (6-3, 2-6, 10-2).

The Cougars finish the season with an overall record of 8-13 and a 4-6 mark in the OVC.  The team ended the season in eighth place in the OVC standings, two spots out of contention for the conference tournament this weekend.

SIUE was led all season by freshman Monique Krutak, who completed her first season as a Cougar with an overall singles record of 16-4 and an OVC singles record of 7-3.  She also teamed up with Ilcewicz in doubles to go 11-3.
