First OVC Win for SIUE Women's Tennis

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The SIUE women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 victory over Tennessee State for its first Ohio Valley Conference win in program history Saturday afternoon at the SIUE Tennis Courts.

Playing their first home dual match of the season, the Cougars (6-8, 1-2 OVC) made quick work of the Tigers (0-3, 0-3 OVC) winning the doubles point without dropping a game. All three positions won by a score of 8-0.

The momentum carried into singles as SIUE claimed all six singles positions with straight-set victories.

Rachel Webb and Haley Ilcewicz breezed through their matches at No. 2 and 3 singles, respectively, winning 6-0, 6-0.

Kali Donner (No. 2), Laura Horning (No. 5), and Lindsey Raymond (No. 6) each lost just one game to seal the conference victory.

Carli Connors also won for the Cougars picking up a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over TSU's Melynda Simmons.

SIUE looks for a weekend sweep when it hosts Jacksonville State Sunday.
