SIUE Softball Adds Janelle Hackmann
Dec. 5, 2011
EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. - SIUE softball Head Coach Sandy Montgomery announced the addition of Janelle Hackmann (Arnold, Mo.) to the program's latest recruiting class.
Hackmann is a 5-foot, 3-inch outfielder from Fox High School where she batted .519 her senior season. She also finished with 16 stolen bases. Hackmann previously played softball at Oakville High School. Hackmann played a high-level summer schedule for Espirit Softball.
Montgomery said she believed Hackmann's speed and athletic ability will serve her well at the collegiate level. "She has not been playing softball long, but with everyday practice at this level, I expect to see tremendous growth."
A Suburban West All-Conference selection in softball, Hackmann also went the unconventional route as a football player her freshman season, suiting up as a running back.
"She's definitely a tough kid," said Montgomery. "She is self-motivated, and she has the desire to be successful."
