EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. – Lauren Zembruski, a member of the 2007 SIUE softball national championship team, has been named the Director of Softball Operations, according to Head Coach Sandy Montgomery.
A 2010 graduate of SIUE, Zembruski rejoins the program in which she was the starting third baseman for four seasons. She played 216 games as a Cougar and finished with a .311 career batting average.
"I am very excited to have Lauren rejoin the program. She was a key student-athlete on our national championship team and showed great leadership qualities as we moved to the Division I level. I believe she will be an important component to our staff moving forward," said Montgomery.
Montgomery said Zembruski will be in charge of team travel, recruiting travels, community service projects, and will be the liaison for softball promotions and marketing. She will coordinate game and practice video on game day as well as manage the team's clubhouse.
Zembruski will maintain alumni databases and spearhead alumni events. She also will assist with game contract administration and the academic progress of softball student-athletes.
As a student-athlete, Zembruski joined SIUE in the fall of 2006 and was a starting freshman on the Division II national championship team. She twice was named to the NCAA Division I All-Independent team in 2009 and 2010. She also was a two-time National Fastpitch Coach Association All-Region third baseman.
She graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education in 2010 and gained softball coaching experience as the head coach of the Homer Hawks in the fall of 2010. She also has served as an assistant coach at Joliet Central High School and Minooka Community High School.
