Two Area Groups To Enjoy Cougar Softball This Weekend

EDWARDSVILLE, ILL. – SIUE Softball is pleased to welcome the Boys & Girls Club of Bethalto as well as the Girls Scouts of Southern Illinois for special events at Cougar Field.

On Friday, the Boys and Girls Club of Bethalto will enjoy the first two games of SIUE's three-game set with Morehead State beginning at 1 p.m.

"The Boys & Girls Club gives many opportunities to young people in the area," said SIUE softball head Coach Sandy Montgomery. "We are excited to be able to share a Division I college softball atmosphere with them. Hopefully some of these kids can aspire to play college athletics by enjoying this experience."

On Saturday, the Cougars close out the series with Morehead State at 1 p.m. and will be joined by the Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois.

"We are excited to celebrate the Girl Scouts 100th anniversary at Cougar Field and also look forward to hosting a clinic for them following our game. The Girl Scouts are a great youth organization, and we are happy that they want to be involved with our program," said Montgomery.

"Girl Scouts of Southern Illinois is very pleased to be partnering with the SIUE Athletics Department to help provide the Girl Scouts/SIUE Softball Game and Clinic. This is a wonderful opportunity for our girls to be active in sports and a great chance for them to visit the SIUE campus.  We are looking forward to more collaboration in the future," said Tracy Barnes, the Director of Program for the Girls Scouts of Southern Illinois.
