Price, Pelley Earn OVC Honors

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – SIUE's Kourtney Price (Eureka, Mo.) and Jennifer Pelley (St. Charles, Mo.) have been named as the women's soccer Defensive Player of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, in the Ohio Valley Conference.

The award marks the fourth time this season Pelley has been named the OVC's Goalkeeper of the Week.  It is the first award for Price. The most recent awards come after SIUE posted two shutouts this past weekend over Southeast Missouri and UT Martin.

Price played all 180 minutes over the weekend, anchoring the Cougar defense. Against UT Martin, she came forward to record the game-winning goal with less than three minutes remaining. The tally was the first of her Cougar career.

Pelley's two shutouts last weekend bring her season total to an OVC-leading six. She made five saves over the two games. The six shutouts are tied for sixth-most in a single season in school history. Her 0.65 goals against average leads the league and ranks 27th in the NCAA while her .868 saves percentage is second in the OVC and 24th in the nation.

Pelley previously earned back-to-back Goalkeeper of the Week honors Aug. 28 and Sept. 4, and then again Sept. 25.

Price and Pelley join Eastern Kentucky's Nikki Donnelly as weekly award winners. Donnelly was selected as the Offensive Player of the Week.

The Cougars are fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference standings and are tied with three other teams for the most wins in conference play with three. SIUE finishes its regular season home schedule this weekend with games against Murray State Friday and Austin Peay Sunday.
