SERIES STUFF: SIUE and UMKC have never met in women's soccer. The Kansas City program is only in its fourth season.The Cougars hold a 1-0 advantage over UNI, with the win coming last year in Cedar Falls.
LAST TIME: The Cougars earned their first victory, defeating Drake 1-0 last Friday in Edwardsville.
OVC HONORS: Freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Pelley earned the OVC Goalkeeper of the Week award thanks to her shutout win over Drake. She made three saves in the win.
PRESEASON PROGNOSTICATION: The Cougars were picked to finish seventh in the OVC in a preseason vote of head coaches and sports information directors.
HOME COOKING: This tournament is the third and fourth games of five consecutive home games. Counting Friday's match, five of the next six games are home games for the Cougars.
GATEWAY CITY: Of the 24 players on SIUE's 2012 roster, 17 of them are from St. Louis or surrounding area.
SIGNED, SEALED, AND DELIVERED: SIUE became a fully certified Division I institution Aug. 2. The Cougars are now eligible for all postseason play.
