Cougars Finish Fall With Second Place at Western Illinois

MACOMB, Ill. - SIUE women's golf wrapped up a successful fall season Monday with a second place finish at the Western Illinois Invitational. The tournament, held at the Harry Mussato Golf Course, marks the third straight event that the Cougars have finished in the top two. SIUE took team honors at last week's Northern Illinois Intercollegiate. That followed a second-place finish at its home tournament, the SIUE Intercollegiate Sept. 27.
SIUE finished with a combined 635, which was 10 strokes behind Loyola.
Ashton Stair finished in second place, just three shots behind medalist Ann Vrdolyak of Loyola. Stair shot a second round 77 to finish with a combined 151. The second-place finish is the highest in her career.
Brooks White finished with a 155 to finish fourth. It also is the best finish in her career. Courtney Lovegreen also bested her highest finish, taking eighth place with a combined score of 162. Brooke Hood is tied for 19th with an 169.Taylor Rumple finished tied for 28th with a 174.
Hilary Powles and Ravyn Rodgers both competed as individuals. Powles finished 50th with a 202. Rodgers tied for 48th with a 197.
The Cougars begin the 2012 portion of the schedule Feb. 19 when they travel to Birmingham, Ala. for the Ann Rhoads Spring Invitational.
