Jennifer Jakel was named as the third head women's golf coach in program history prior to the 2006-07 school year. A collegiate golfer at Missouri State University, Jakel is a native of Highland. She earned a bachelor of science in business administration from Missouri State in 2002. She received her master's in business administration at SIUE in 2006. Jakel was a four-year player from 1998-2002 at Missouri State, helping the Bears to a Missouri Valley Conference title in 2001. The Bears also made their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance during the 2000-2001 season. Jakel also is the assistant to financial affairs for the Cougar athletic department, as well as concessions manager for all SIUE athletic events.
