Cougars One Shot Back at Western Illinois
MACOMB, Ill. – For the third consecutive tournament, SIUE women's golf is in contention for a title. The Cougars are one shot back of the lead after the first round of play at the Western Illinois Invitational Sunday. SIUE has a combined 316, which trails only Loyola-Chicago which finished the first round with a 325.
Ashton Stair is tied for first with Loyola's Alex Meyers. Both golfers carded first round scores of 74. The 74 is the lowest round of Stair's career. The freshman fired a second-round 77 last week to finish fourth at Northern Illinois.
Brooks White has a 77, also the lowest round of her career, which is good for fourth place. Courtney Lovegreen is 12th with an 82. Taylor Rumple is among four golfers tied for 13th. Brooke Hood is tied for 22nd with an 85.
Hilary Powles and Ravyn Rodgers are playing as individuals. Powles is tied for 46th with a 97. Rodgers is tied for 49th with a 102.
Play concludes with the final round Monday at Harry Mussato Golf Course. Tee time is 9 a.m.
