Cougars Take Third at IPFW Spring Classic
FORT WAYNE, Ind. – SIUE women's gold shaved nine strokes off its first round score to finish in third place at the IPFW Spring Classic held at Pine Valley Country Club. The Cougars finished with a total of 671 to move up from eighth place after the first round.
Indianapolis (640) captured the team title, while Chicago State (662) followed in second place.
Ashton Stair led the Cougars with a 166. Her second-round 79 was one of the lowest rounds of the day. She tied with three other golfers for 13th place. Brooke Hood and Taylor Rumple each finished with a combined 168 to tie for 17th place. Courtney Lovegreen and Brooks White tied for 31st with a 174.
Hilary Powles and Ravyn Rodgers each competed as individuals. Powles finished 62nd with a 194. Rodgers was 64th with a 198.
Leila Marquet of Lewis defeated Darin Pinnick of Indianapolis medalist honors in a one-hole playoff. Both golfers finished with a 158.
SIUE returns to the course April 16 at the Creighton Classic. It is the Cougars final tournament of the season.
