TOP STORYLINES
• This is the fifth meeting between the Cougars and Redbirds with the series tied 2-2 (dating back to 1981). SIUE recorded its largest win in the series last season at the Vadalabene Center, a 92-80 victory. SIUE won the last game at Redbird Arena 65-57 (12/1/15). The Redbirds won both games played in 2010, including a 68-57 win at Redbird Arena.
• SIUE is aiming for its fourth consecutive victory after defeating SIU Carbondale 57-53 Monday in Carbondale.
• The Cougars are ranked No. 7 nationally in three-point field goal percentage defense (21.8 percent).
 
LAST GAME (11/27/17)
Lauren White broke away for a layup off an in-bounds pass from Nakiah Bell with six seconds left as SIUE defeated SIU Carbondale 57-53 at SIU Arena. SIUE won its third straight game this season and defeated its sister school for the second year in a row. White led all scorers with 18 points. Bell was a long-distance threat for the Cougars, connecting on five three-pointers. She finished with 15 points.

SCOUTING ILLINOIS STATE
The Redbirds are 2-0 at Redbird Arena after a 64-53 win over UMKC. Simone Goods is the team's leading scorer with 15.5 points per game but has not appeared in the last two games for ISU. Megan Talbot and Hannah Green are next in scoring at 10.8 points per game each. The Redbirds are averaging 48.2 points per game.
 
1,000 POINTS
Donshel Beck became the 24th player to pass the 1,000-point scoring mark. She currently is No. 19 with 1,047 points. Gwen Adams needs 60 points to become No. 25 to hit the mark.
 
2018 SIGNING CLASS
Coach Buscher announced a class of five who will be joining SIUE next season. The class includes Madison Hackstadt (Okawville, Illinois), Mikala Hall (Danville, Illinois), Mikia Keith (Indianapolis, Ind.),
Kai Koehler (Dunlap, Illinois) and Kelsie Williams (Florissant, Missouri).
 
BLOCK AND REBOUND
Sydney Bauman is No. 39 nationally in rebounds per game (10.5) and No. 40 nationally in blocked shots per game (2.25).
 
FROM DOWNTOWN
Nakiah Bell hit five three-pointers against SIU Carbondale. It was the 10th time at SIUE that the Cougar guard has had four or more three-pointers made in a game.
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Bauman and Beck each have one double-double this season. Bauman had 11 points and 15 rebounds against Air Force. Beck finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds against Saint Louis.
 
FEWER WHISTLES
SIUE is ranked No. 11 in the nation in fewest fouls committed with 62 in four games.
 
PRESEASON PICKS
Beck was named preseason All-OVC after averaging 14.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game last season.

SIUE was selected to finish second in the OVC behind defending conference champion Belmont.
