TOURNEY BOUND

This is SIUE's first appearance in the OVC Tournament. The Cougars are 6-4 against teams in the OVC Tournament. SIUE will have to play three East Division teams (Tennessee State, Belmont, Tennessee Tech) to make its way to the OVC Tournament finals.

 

SERIES NOTE

Tennessee State and SIUE met once this season Feb. 25 at SIUE. The Cougars used 24 points from freshman Jessie Wendt in a 75-69 victory.

 

NATIONALLY RANKED

SIUE is currently 12th in the nation in rebound margin at +8.4 (as of Mar. 3). Raven Berry is 38th nationally as a individual (as of Mar. 3).

 

ALL-TIME REBOUNDS LEADER

Berry became SIUE's first female player to record 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career. She has 1,455 points and 1,014 rebounds.

 

SCOUTING THE TIGERS

Jasmin Shuler and Kesi Hess combined for 46 of Tennessee State's 69 points in the Feb. 25 game at SIUE. The Tigers led that game by as many as 13 points in the first half before SIUE came back for the victory.

 

COMEBACK CITY

The Cougars came back from double-digit deficits six times this season. The most was 13 against Tennessee State and IPFW.

 

CONSISTENCY

Berry and Tierny Austin are SIUE's only players to start all 28 games this season. Austin leads the team in minutes played per game at 31.5 followed by Berry at 30.9.

 

TOP 40

Austin, a sophomore, moved into the all-time top 40 in scoring with 540 points.

 

MONOPOLY ON REBOUNDS

Over the past four seasons, the rebounding duo of Berry and Michaela Herrod have accounted for 39.5 percent of SIUE's rebounds.

 

CAREER STAT NOTES

• Berry became the seventh player in school history to record 500 or more field goals. She needs 8 more to pass Kim Lowe (1995-98) for fifth all-time and now has 527.

Courtney Kenner needs four assists to break into SIUE's all-time top 10.

• Herrod became only the fifth player in school history to grab 700 rebounds. She is currently fourth on the all-time list with 748.

• Berry is second in games played with 115. The all-time leader is Melia Duncan (2008-12) with 117.

Jazmin Hill needs three three-pointers to move into second all-time. She would pass Teri Evans (1992-95) with 172.

 

MORE REBOUNDS

SIUE has been outrebounded three times in 27 games. The only teams that have outrebounded the Cougars are Purdue, Indiana, and Eastern Kentucky. SIUE has recorded 50 or more rebounds in a game seven times.
