SIUE Skips Past Saint Joseph's 67-41

         EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University Edwardsville got back on the winning track Saturday with a 67-41 victory over Saint Joseph's.
           The Cougars took control from the beginning and didn't look back at the Pumas, now 1-14 overall and 0-8 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
           Amber Shelton led all scorers with 18 points for the Cougars, which improved their record to 11-4 overall and 4-3 in the GLVC.
           SIUE bombarded Saint Joseph's with nine three-pointers, including four from the Cougars' all-time leader in treys Whitney Sykes. The Cougars used a deep bench to outscore SJC 29-11. SIUE also grabbed a decided rebounding advantage of 41-24 to outpace SJC on second-chance points 14-4.
           Michelle Kiger was the lone player for SJC in double figures with 11 points.
           The Cougars next face Kentucky Wesleyan in a 5:15 p.m. game Thursday at the Owensboro Sportscenter.
