EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The 2017 Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Championships will be run Saturday at the Panther Trail Course in Charleston, Illinois.
It marks the first time Eastern Illinois has hosted the event since 2005. The meet is free and open to the public.
This will be the 57th OVC men's championship as the first one was held in 1962.
On the men's side for the Cougars, Landon Skelly looks for continued success after winning the OVC Runner of the Week award for his fourth-place finish at the Bradley Invitational Oct. 6. Skelly ran a personal record (26:09.4) in the 8K at the Bradley Pink Classic Oct. 13. Tyler Owens and Austin Woodard have one top 10 finish each this year for SIUE. Owens and Woodard ran PRs at the Illinois State Invite Sept. 8.
The women's championship will be determined for the 39th time this year.
The SIUE women have been led by Haley Miller and Jess Clarke this season. Miller has two top 10 finishes, including a fourth-place finish at the Bradley Invitational. Clarke won the OVC Runner of the Week after she placed second at the Bradley Invitational. Aly Goff has one top 10 finish and ran a personal best (19:09.9) in the 5k at the Illinois State Invite.
The men's 8K race will begin at 9 a.m., the women's 5K will follow at 10 a.m.
