SIUE Cross Country Visits Local Pen Pals

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The SIUE cross country teams took time away from a busy finals week to visit their pen pals from Mrs. Jennifer Fowler's 2nd-grade class at Leclaire Elementary Thursday afternoon.

"It was a lot of fun and very entertaining," said SIUE Head Coach Eileen McAllister. "The kids and athletes were very engaged. It's hilarious to hear some of the questions, and their perspective is unique and refreshing."

The Cougars went to their classroom first for some conversation with the kids and followed with a trip outside to the playground.

"I think it's extremely important we strive to form relationships in the community," added McAllister. "Obviously, being a positive role model for children is invaluable. It's a win-win situation for everyone."
